Things have improved in Italy. Thirty years ago when I was hitchhiking in Italy, people demonstrated how dispose of rubbish by throwing it out of the window while diving on the motorway. The raodsides were littered with all kinds of rubbish.

Today it looks much cleaner in Italy. Nevertheless there are loads of wild dumping places. So, when you try to find a place for the night in a remote places you blunder into these heaps of sofas, demolition refuse, garbage bags ...
