Namibia is a large country with relatively few inhabitants. Rubbish seems to be not much of a problem.

Only one day in Lüderitz I saw a disturbing view. A fence where plastic bags hanging, blown there by the wind. If the wind changes they are driven out into the sea and the other side of the fence is "decorated" with plastic bags.

What I find more disturbing is the fact that uranium is still being mined. Why do we still use nuclear power. Uranium has an unbelievable long radioactive half-life. This means natural radioactivity is emerging at a low rate. As soon as we have used it, a lot of radiation is being emitted by the wastes. After we have had energy gains for a relatively short period these dangerous wastes have to be disposed of in a "safe" and guarded place to thousands of years.

How can we expect that future generations guard our wastes to hundreds and thousands of generations. The gain we had is their loss. Where the wastes are noone can live, noone must go there. Who will tell them one day when our languages have long been forgotten.
